The 2023 Season Begins

Hi. I hope you and your loved ones are all doing well! I’m looking forward to seeing you in the store again.

Since several of our varieties, including dahlias, zinnias, and sunflowers, have started blooming, we will open our little farm flower shop to the general public on Saturday, August 12th. Our weekly hours will be 8A-4P on Saturdays. Florists, however, can reach out to us by phone or email throughout the week to see what we are currently harvesting. Our season will conclude when we no longer have any flowers to sell. With this summer’s succession plantings, I plan to keep this side gig’s season running until fall’s first frost.

I’m grateful we’re able to open the shop this summer. Flower farming has been more challenging than usual due to quasi-drought conditions during May and June and a powerful storm (80 to 100 MPH winds) that hit August 4th. Somehow, though, our flowers have chosen to keep giving it their best shot. In fact, despite the wind storm flattening a couple of our sheds and knocking down a few of our trees, most of our flowers survived.

We have a few more varieties than last year and twice as many dahlias. We hope you will stop by and check out what we have.

At some point, I’ll return to writing longer blog posts, including those about growing dahlias; I’m just unsure as to when.

Once again, I look forward to seeing you during the next few months.

Stay safe, and have a good week. 😊
